Toni C. Thompson, LCSW, FIPA, BCD is Director of Faculty, supervisor and faculty at NYSPP. She isa graduate and has her certificate in psychoanalytic psychotherapy from The Institute for the Study of Psychotherapy (ISP) and in psychoanalysisfrom The Psychanalytic Training Institute of the Contemporary Freudian Society (PTI ofCFS), where she is also faculty and training analyst.Post Institute: she is a member of both peer group and advanced seminars led by master clinicians involved in the further study of psychoanalytic thinking and the presentation of in-depthcase material. She is published as well as presented and has been a discussant at scientific meetings, conferences and workshops, on subjects such as trauma and its effect on technique, resistance, it’s adaptive and maladaptive meanings, separation-individuation, developmental theory and its implication for technique. She is in private practice in Manhattan. Her initial therapeutic focus was on analytic child and adult psychotherapy with intensive parent consultation. This foundation led toher contemporary practice of adult analytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, couple and conjoint parent/adolescent treatment.
